Fraternal Order of Police Lodge #104 Meeting Minutes August 2004

 

1930: President Baab called the meeting to order.

 -Recognition of Bill O’Ryan for all his work over the years at the retirees’  Luncheons

 -Presentation by Prosecutor Patzer, a candidate for appeals court Judge.

 -No reading of last months minutes due to Bro. Bemis being absent.

 -Treasurers report by Bro. Poulton

            -Motion to accept as read by Bro. Poulton

            -2nd by Bro. Price

            -Motion carried

 

Labor Issues

            -President Baab advised that there are several pending issues on the labor front.

             -President Baab that SERB is investigation the proposed 5/2 schedule.

             -Discussion over the number of lodge/OLC representatives being allowed in the interview room during internal investigations.

  

Old Business

                    -Bro Gardiner advised the Employee Rights seminars, originally scheduled for September, will be postponed until the winter months due to memberships busy schedules.

  

New Business 

          -President Baab advised that Bro Feehan is now the new editor of the Informer. Please have all articles and letters to Bro Feehan by the 2nd Wednesday of the month.

             -Letter of resignation by Bro. Combs as lodge Trustee.

                        -Motion by Bro Baab to accept Bro Combs resignation.

                        -2nd by Bro Gardiner to accept

            -Motion carried

                         -Motion by Bro Feehan to name Bro C. Williams as Trustee

                        -2nd by Bro Sollenberger

            -Motion carried.

  

Chaplains Report

            -Bro Shively reported that he has received thank you letters/cards from many.

                        -Motion to accept by Bro Shively

Charitable Contributions Committee

             -Motion by Bro Gardiner, on behalf of Bro Roy, requesting a donation of $350.00 to the Dayton Lawmen’s softball team.

                        -2nd by Bro Sollenberger

              -Motion carried

             -Motion by Bro Brady to donate $500.00 to MCSO S.W.A.T competition to purchase water etc. for the members.

                        -2nd by many

            -Motion carried

-Motion by Bro Shively to donate $75.00 to KY Police Officer Danny Cook, who is being sued civilly due to a line of duty incident.

                        -Motion amended by Bro Giesel to donate $100.00

                        -Motion amended by Bro M. Snyder to donate $250.00

                         -2nd by Bro C. Williams

            -Motion carried

 

Membership Committee

-Motion by committee to accept Shawn Waller, Jackson Twp Police, as a member.

            -Motion carried

 

Good of the Order

-Thank you to membership from Bro Giesel for supporting his volunteer organization.

 -Motion by Bro Shively requesting that the lodge purchase a set of books for the MCSO sergeant’s exam.

                        -2nd by Bro Giesel

            -Motion failed

-President Baab advised that the lodge received a letter from the city of Vandalia in reference to the Miller Lane development project. Bro Brady and President Baab will attend one of the information meetings in the near future.

 -Bro Bartlett read a letter from Chet Delong (OLC), in reference to endorsement of a Presidential candidate.

                        -Motion by President Baab to hold a special election to decide which candidate to endorse.

                        -2nd by Bro Price

            -Notification will be made by Daily, web site, and mailing.

-President Baab advised that on 09/25/04, at 1000 hrs., there will be a lodge clean-up party. The lodge will provide food and drink for those who participate.

 -50/50 drawing: Won by Sister Phelps

 -Motion to adjourn by Bro Gardiner
