Minutes from the FOP meeting held January 4, 2005

 

Meeting Called to order at 1930 hrs by President S. Baab.

Brother Bartlett gave the opening prayer.

Pledge of Allegiance by all members led by Sister Haas.

Secretary’s Report

Motion by Brother Bemis to accept the December minutes as posted on the website.

Second by many.

No discussion.

Motion passed.

Legal/Labor Issues

Arbitration for Deputy Baab reference has been completed and a Memorandum of Understanding is being prepared. Information will be discussed at the February 1, 2005, meeting.

Deputy Matthew Wright’s grievance has been dropped.

ALL members of the Sheriff’s Office are encouraged to take an FOP representative with them to ALL Special Investigations interview whether you are the focus or a witness. All it takes is an incomplete answer whether a witness or a focus. You have rights!

New Business

Motion made by President Baab to send four (4) members to "The Rights of Police Officers" Seminar in Las Vegas, Nevada from April 20-22, 2005.

Second by Brother Giesel.

Discussion.

Motion passed.

Brother G. Bemis had a medical condition and was not able to attend in 2004 but has been active in representing bargaining unit members. He will fill one of the four vacant slots for this Seminar.

The Winter State FOP Board Meeting will be held at the Cherry Valley Lodge in Newark, Ohio on January 14-15, 2005. Anyone wishing to attend please contact Brother G. Bemis or President Baab as soon as possible.

The Fish Fry is scheduled for April 1, 2005 at Hara Arena. A Fish-Fry Committee meeting will be held towards the end of January. Anyone wishing to be on this Committee can contact Brother Poulton.

Social Committee

Texas Hold Em Tournament will be scheduled sometime in the fall of 2005.

Fish Fry is coming up in April. A date will be chosen at the January meeting.

Formal Ball discussed for a September event.

Halloween Party discussed for an October event.

November 9, 2004

          04-2206 Embassy switch for the 800mhz Equipment from Motorola for the Sheriff’s Department, at a cost of $399,675.00.

November 30, 2004

          04-2270 Accept a grant in the amount of $247,805.33 for the combined agencies unit under the Anti-Drug Act.

          04-2292 (Auth. Agreements) City of Trotwood for the Kon-Tiki Theatre Demolition Project, in the amount of $155,000.00.

           

Building Committee

For the Good of the Order

February 5-6, 2005, Don Perkins has agreed to teach the mandatory class for the C.C.W. permits. The class will cost $60.00 per person for members and family members of Lodge #104.

Brother Jon Miller made a motion to donate $500.00 to cover meals and any administrative costs.
