Minutes from the FOP meeting held March 3, 2005

 

Meeting Called to order at 1930 hrs by President S. Baab.

Brother Baab gave the Police Officer’s Prayer.

Pledge of Allegiance by all members led by Brother Gardiner.

Motion by Brother Bemis to accept the February meeting minutes as posted on the website.

Legal/Labor Issues

The Civil Rights Board and SERB gave notice of the dismissal of the lawsuit involving Phil Dill.

An Advanced Collective Bargaining Perspective Seminar is being held in Columbus, Ohio on April 25-28, 2005. Anyone with prior Collective Bargaining experience who would like to attend please contact one of the Executive Board Members.

ALL members of the Sheriff’s Office are encouraged to take an FOP representative with them to ALL Special Investigations interview whether you are the focus or a witness.

New Business

President Baab officially recognized Sister Haas as a Trustee of FOP Lodge #104. She is replacing Brother Sollenberger who resigned.

The Fish Fry is scheduled for April 1, 2005 at Hara Arena. A Fish-Fry Committee meeting will be held on March 15 at 1600 hrs at FOP Lodge #104. Anyone wishing to be on this Committee can contact Brother Poulton.

Old Business:

Brother Gardiner is making the arrangements for the National FOP Convention from July 31-August 5, 2005.

Chaplain’s Report

Read by Brother Snyder in Brother Shively’s absence (late...EV call).

Charitable Contributions Committee

Received a request to donate to the Hancock County, TN to help with the cost of insurance for Deputies.

No motion received.

Received a request from Hospice for any type of monetary donation.

Motion made by Brother Mullenix to donate $100.

Second by Brother Haines.

No discussion.

Motion passed.

Motion made by Brother Snyder to donate $500 to the Kettering Police Department , Officer Csizma fund.

Second by Brother Haines.

No discussion.

Motion passed.

Cindy Davidson spoke on behalf of "Respect for Law" she has initiated in Harrison Twp.

Motion made by Brother Bergman to donate $500 to purchase necessary items for the program.

Brother Bemis made a challenge to the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office PAL Program to match the funds donated by FOP Lodge #104.

Second by many.

Motion made by President Baab to donate $250.00 to the Warren County Lodge #103 for an Officer who lost ALL of their belongings in a serious house fire.

Motion amended by Brother Bergman to $500.

Second by Brother Snyder.

Texas Hold Em Tournament will be scheduled sometime in the fall of 2005.

Fish Fry is coming up April 1, 2005 at Hara Arena.

Formal Ball/Awards Ceremony scheduled for September 17, 2005.

Halloween Party scheduled for October 29, 2005.

Children’s Christmas Party discussed for December 10, 2005.

Brother Poulton advised that an Attendance Raffle would be started for Lodge #104. Rules and explanation are posted in the Lodge on the bulletin board. If you have any questions, please contact Brother Poulton. YOU MUST BE PRESENT TO WIN! (see rules)

This weeks attendance raffle winner is Mike Pigman.

Since Mike was not in attendance, he does not win and the $70 will roll over to the April 5th meeting. Should’ve been at the meeting Mike!
