Legal/Labor Issues

Brother Thornton is back to work!  The Arbitrator found in our favor and Brother Thornton returns with a 30 calendar day suspension for policy violation (not using his body mic).  Some concerns were brought up about whether or not the Administration will set precedence with comparative discipline with other deputies for the same policy violation.  Brother Concannon advised that there should be no precedence set because the discipline was decided by the Arbitrator.

After Brother Thornton’s ruling came out, the Labor Management meeting was promptly cancelled by the Administration.  Now set for April 21 at 10am for those who want to attend.

Brother Suman’s Arbitration was held February 7, 2006.  The arbitration went well with very little cross-testimony.  We are still waiting on the results of Brother Suman and Sister Hewitt’s Arbitrations.

Brother Meyer has returned to the Sheriff’s Office as a Corrections Officer.  The amount of his reimbursement is pending and there are still other issues being addressed.

Brothers Dugan and Blackwell are currently on hold pending the outcome of the criminal aspects of the case.  A date has been set in September.  Only Brother Dugan’s criminal investigation has been completed.  Trial starts April 24, 2006.

Contract negotiations are coming up.  Those members who would like to be on the contract negotiating team, please submit memos of interest to Brother Concannon.
