Minutes from the FOP meeting held February 7, 2006 Meeting Called to order at 1930 hrs by Brother Concannon. Brother Ridgeway gave the opening prayer. Pledge of Allegiance by all members, led by Brother Statzer. Roll Call of Lodge #104 Officers. Second by many to accept, leaving one vacant Trustee’s position. Secretary’s Report Motion by Sister Haas to accept the December minutes as printed on the webpage. Second by Brother Statzer. No discussion. Motion passed. Treasure’s Report Motion by Brother Poulton to accept as read. Second by Brother Feehan. No discussion. Motion passed. Legal/Labor Issues
There are currently several pending grievances. Brother Thornton’s arbitration was held last in January. Sister Hewitt’s Arbitration date March 14, 2006 (pending). Brother Suman’s Arbitration was held on February 7, 2006. The arbitration went well. Brother Bemis was ordered to leave because of FOP time/late notice issues. Brother Meyer has not received an Arbitration date as of yet. Both Dep.’s Dugan and Blackwell are currently on hold pending the outcome of criminal aspect of case. The administration wants to proceed with the civil aspect before the criminal aspect. E-mail any questions and concerns to Brother Gardiner. New Business No new business. Old Business: As mentioned the previous meeting, Brother Tays stepped down as Trustee which left one Trustee’s position vacant. The executive board made recommendations, voted, and nominated Brother Bemis. Brother Bemis accepted, filling the vacant position, and joins the board Trustee. There was no additional news from Brother Keechle regarding the oven. There was no additional news from Brother Statzer regarding the TV. Chaplin’s Report Motion by Brother Ridgeway to accept the Chaplain’s Report as read. Second by Brother Poulton. No Discussion. Motion passed. Brother Ridgeway reported that he held his first “Breakfast with the Chaplain” a few Friday’s ago. He is considering scheduling one Breakfast a month and would like us to get the word out to others. Date of the next Breakfast will be announced when it’s set. Charitable Contributions Committee NONE. Social Committee Brother Mullinex, Brother Statzer, Brother Gardiner, and Sister Haas attended the Winter Board meeting in Mansfield. Among topics mentioned was the State Conference that is being hosted by Dayton’s Lodge this year. We offered our assistance with the Conference and discussed the possibility of having a hospitality room at the hotel. One of the events at the Conference is the option of attending a Dayton Dragons game. Dayton’s Lodge website advised that tickets are for sale, but quantity is limited. Sister Haas made a motion for the Lodge to purchase a certain number of tickets. Second by Brother Statzer Motion amended by Brother Bemis to spend $200 on 20 tickets. Second by many No discussion Motion passed. The Lodge #104 2006 Fish Fry will be held on Friday April 7, 2006. Tickets are on sale now. Sister Gardiner reported that the band for the Fish Fry has been booked. The band will be “Lethargic” and we are currently in the process of attempting to get Fricker’s to sponsor the band. We are still in of dealers for Texas Hold’em, Showdown, and Blackjack. If you know of anyone who may be able to deal, please let us know. We also need donated door prizes. PAC Committee Nothing to report. Membership Committee Applications received from: Penelope Vo, MCSO Michael Lawson, MCSO Sister Haas made a motion to accept applicants as members of this Lodge. Second by many. Discussion Motion passed. Also received an application from Timothy Powell, retired. Discussion as to whether or not to accept his application. Brother Bemis stated that as a retiree Powell is already a lifetime member of the lodge. Building Committee NONE For the Good of the Order February 9, 10, 11, 2006 are the dates for the Leadership Matters Seminar held in Nashville, TN. Brothers Concannon, Gardiner, and Poulton and Sister Haas will be attending. Sister DeBrosse advised that she will not be able to attend the Polar Bear Plunge this year. She did have raffle tickets for sale for a Harley Davidson Softtail Deluxe with Trailer. Cost of the tickets are $10. Motion by Brother Gardiner for the lodge to purchase 5 tickets. Second by Sister Gardiner Discussion Motion passed. Discussion about the upcoming Memorial week in Washington, D.C. This year the Lodge pay for the rental of transportation. Each person wishing to attend will be responsible for the lodging and food. Sister Gardiner said she would check into the cost of vans. Brother Gardiner discussed the Lodge’s efforts to get the Sgt’s back with the FOP. He mentioned that if the Sgt’s come back then there would be a possibility that the civilians would follow. There will be a meeting scheduled with the Sgt’s within the next few weeks. Brother Bemis requested that if anyone can assist him with the Associate Lodge it would be greatly appreciated. 50/50 Raffle: Won by Brother Campbell
