Sister Haas also reported that the deadline for submitting membership dues was March 1, 2007. Any dues received after this date will be charged a $10 late fee. All membership cards have been mailed out to all Members in Good Standing. The most recent mailings went out March 6, 2007 (in case you recently paid and have not received your card yet). I would like to thank every one for their patience during the last few months. Sending out the renewal letters and keeping stringent records of all dues submitted is a very time consuming and tedious process. I know there have been times when my replies to e-mail requests have not been the most timely, and I apologize for that. Thank you again for your understanding!!

A reminder to all: Only full time law enforcement and retired-in-good-standing members of the Lodge are permitted to be Members of the Fraternal Order of Police. Per Lodge #104’s Constitution:

Article IV
Section VI
Any member of this Lodge who is dismissed, with cause, or resigns from FULL-TIME employment, shall forfeit all rights and claims as a member of this Lodge and shall return any and all membership cards and/or F.O.P. license plate emblems.

A recent article written by Patrick Yoes, F.O.P. National Secretary, in The F.O.P. Journal, outlines the dangers of “Police wannabes”…people who impersonate police officers and/or purchase FOP emblems off the internet (or by other means). Websites such as eBay have continually rejected the F.O.P.’s request that FOP “Active Member” merchandise be prohibited from their website based on concerns of officer safety.

As a true Member of this Lodge it is your duty to protect the integrity of the Fraternal Order of Police and our jobs. We put our lives on the line every day and, as such, earn the right to display the FOP emblems or plates. Do your part!! Do NOT resell any emblems you have purchased to anyone! Members can only obtain FOP emblems by directly contacting the Secretary now. This may be an inconvenience, but I believe it is the best way to handle the concern of “police wannabes” and Members who will resell emblems to anyone in hopes of making a quick buck. Do not forget, all large emblems have serial numbers on them and the name of the person purchasing the emblem is documented. The National Lodge is not only investigating the “wannabes” but also the Members to whom that Emblem was sold!!! The Lodge will keep only a few small emblems in stock (for those with motorcycles). As a result, the Lodge will only be selling/issuing the large emblems with the serial numbers from now on.

Building Committee

Brother Statzer obtained a new TV for the Lodge.
Brother Walters donated a couch for the lodge also.

For the Good of the Order

Brother Walt Price passed away.
Judge G. Jack Davis also passed away.
A moment of silence was held.

Brother Feehan reported that since we will not be having a Fish Fry this year, there is the possibility that we may raffle of a Harley Davidson.

F & S has supplied samples of prices for the cost of the bike and advised that if the bike was not paid for up front, it will be housed at F & S until it is paid for.

Motion by Brother Feehan to establish a Committee to be headed up by Brother Phillips to further research this possibility.
Second by many.
