Legal/Labor Issues Brother Gardiner wanted to remind the membership if they are ever going to be interviewed by ISU, that all members are entitled to a union rep. no matter if they are the focus of an investigation or a witness.
New Business The Screening Committee met on July 24 and agreed to recommend the Lodge endorse Sheriff Phil Plummer for Montgomery County Sheriff. The Committee was able to pose some tough questions to both candidates and those questions and answers are available for review. The membership had the opportunity to vote on this issue as well as others today. Brother Brady proposed Amendments to the Constitution and By-Laws. There is only one reading required and then the membership will vote. The Amendments will be to Article 1 Name and Article 15 Dues. The Amendment to Article 1 will make the language of the Lodge’s Amendments coincide with the language in the State and Grand Lodges Constitution and By-Laws and to clean up the grammar and wording. The Amendment to Article 15 will ensure the Lodge is financially sound. Motion by Brother Zurn to have a show of hands as opposed to a secret ballot vote for the proposed Amendments to the Constitution and By-Laws Second by Brother Snyder Discussion Motion passed Motion by Brother Brady to accept the Amendments to Article 1 and Article 15 as read Second by many Discussion Motion passed

Chaplain’s Report Brother Ridgeway advised a get well balloon bouquet was sent to Brother Hovey, M.T.P.D. after he was involved in a motorcycle accident while on duty. A get well bouquet was also sent to Brother Bergman after he had surgery to repair a torn bicep. Brother Bergman will be off for approximately six weeks. Brother Ridgeway also reported Jenny Laravie, the wife of Major Laravie has been battling some serious health issues. A get well balloon bouquet was sent to Jenny. Also, Brother Bender has been off work with some serious health issues, but is doing better and is now back to work. Motion by Brother Ridgeway to accept the Chaplain’s report as read Second by many Discussion Motion passed

Building Committee Brother Zurn reported he would be getting 2-3 estimates from local companies to have the parking lot repaired and seal coated. Brother Zurn advised the job will probably cost around $1,000. Brother Zurn also advised he will be looking to get donations to spruce up the Lodge.
For the Good of the Order The results of the vote for August 5 are as follows: The Lodge voted to recommend the Grand Lodge endorse John McCain for President of the United States; The Lodge voted to accept the Screening Committee’s recommendation to endorse Sheriff Phil Plummer for Montgomery County Sheriff; The Lodge voted to go to a 5/2-5/3 rotating schedule and not to reopen the bidding process Motion by Brother Statzer to accept the voting results as read Second by Brother Campbell Discussion Motion passed Motion by Brother Statzer to destroy the ballots from the vote Second by many Discussion Motion passed
50/50 Raffle Brother Barnes won the 50/50 drawing Motion to adjourn by Brother Zurn Second by many No Discussion Meeting adjourned.
